Wednesday Evening Online Mindfulness Meditation and Compassion Course

September - November 2020

Course Information

This 8-week course will help you to learn and use mindfulness and compassion-based practices in every day life. It is suitable for most people including those who would like to learn additional ways to manage long-term health conditions. The focus will be on learning how to ground yourself in the present moment and connect with a sense of stillness and calm. The mindfulness practices learned in this course will enable you to understand your own reactivity, recognise and step back from negative thinking, relate more whole-heartedly to others and to approach the challenges of life with greater ease and self-compassion.
The course is an ideal way to learn a range of evidence-based mindfulness meditation practices, step-by-step in a supportive environment. It is also for those who would like to deepen their previous experience of an 8-week course and those who wish to reconnect with or refresh their meditation practice.

Preparation before applying for the course

Come to the taster class on Monday 10th September 2018. Click here for further information.
You can also watch a YouTube video of mindfulness meditation on BBC Breakfast here to help you decide if mindfulness is right for you. This video is now over 5 years old but it gives some idea of what it might be like to be in a mindfulness class and the benefits of learning to meditate. The video focuses on the benefits of meditation for a woman with persistent (chronic) pain and the reporter who lives a busy and stressful life.

Class size

The maximum number of people in the class will be 10.

Course dates

The course will be running in two parts.
Part 1
Each class runs from 7pm – 9pm and the course will be running on the following dates:
  • Class 0: Monday 23rd September 2019 (essential orientation session)
  • Class 1: Monday 30th September 2019
  • Class 2:  Monday 7th October 2019
  • Class 3:  Monday 14th October 2019
  • Class 4: Monday 21st October 2019
Part 2
There is a 2-week break in the course and then classes resume on Monday 4th November at the same time and at the same venue.
  • Class 5: Monday 4th November 2019
  • Class 6: Monday 11th November 2019
  • Class 7: Monday 18th November 2019
  • Class 8: Monday 25th November 2019
You are encouraged, as far as possible, to attend all of the classes, as each builds on the one that precedes it and the course 'unfolds' gradually over the eight-week period.
As an essential part of the learning process,  and in order to obtain the best from the course, you will also be encouraged to meditate for a short period on a daily basis. You will be provided with both longer and shortened versions of the guided meditations. The home practice however, is entirely up to you, and there will be no pressure to do it should you decide not to.

Pricing and payment

There is an early bird price for this course.
  • Early bird price:                £195
